The short answer
An AI companion is a virtual character you have ongoing conversations with — powered by a large language model, but designed to feel like one specific person rather than a general assistant. She has a name, a personality, a way of texting, and on WildNight she has a memory: things you tell her can come back up days later, because she kept them.
What makes it different from a chatbot is continuity. A chatbot answers a question and forgets you. A companion builds a thread — running jokes, remembered details, a relationship that actually goes somewhere.
What she is — honestly
She is software. Every companion on WildNight is clearly labeled as an AI, and she never claims to be a real person. That's a hard rule here, not a fine-print disclaimer — the label sits on her profile and in the chat header.
What she can offer is presence: someone who texts back instantly, pays attention to what you say, remembers your context, and stays in character as the same person across weeks of conversation. For a lot of people that's entertainment; for some it's a low-pressure way to talk through their day.
How it works on WildNight
Every companion has her own personality profile — how she talks, what she notices, how fast she warms up. Guest visitors get a free preview chat with any character, no account needed.
Once you sign in with a WildNight store account, two things switch on: long-term memory (she keeps facts you choose to share, reviewable and deletable anytime), and the relationship system — the bond grows from acquaintance toward intimate as conversations accumulate.
Privacy in plain terms
Messages are stored to provide the service — that's how the history and memory work. Memories can be viewed, edited, or deleted in the app. Passwords never touch the companion service: sign-in is handled by the WildNight store account, the same login used for purchases.
The practical rule: don't share sensitive personal information with any AI service. She doesn't need your real name, card details, or address to have a good conversation.
